Wrong.

Conservatives also blame the safety net programs for the demise of our economy. The opposite is true.

Calvin Coolidge was Ronald Regan's political idol. Not surprising Reagan's economic policies (following Coolidge's policies) ended in a depression.

Mondale was right. We needed to raise taxes to balance our books, and thirty years later (after Republican economic policies) we are multiple trillions in debt. We didn't need to wait 30 years to prove Reagan wrong, he left office with a 2-1/2 trillion dollar debt.

The depression era generation learned the reality, that communal taxation, safety net programs, and paying our bills was for the good of all Americans and created a healthier, better off society.

I fear we will have to get as bad as the Great Depression (and we are not near that) before Americans change their greedy thinking.

old sayings like "Their is no free lunch" have the truth of Historical facts.

Simple Math. This generation needs to pay off this multi-trillion dollar debt. They created it through their greed. It is a one generational debt. Our parents and grand parents were more responsible. They did not pass on their debts to this generation.

This generation is going to leave America worse off than it was left to them, because of simple greed.

I tire of debates like the one you write about, when the record of History has given us the answer. Those who misrepresent Historical facts, are not serious and can be dangerous. Those who neglect History are bound to repeat it.

Seems the Republicans are neglecting (possibly intentionally) History and Americans are gullible enough to believe them.

This is why the founding fathers believed in education. To the point where they believed in communal taxation to fund free education.TOMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02464117691722213136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21976234.post-60502744757526343472011-12-16T22:06:20.421-06:002011-12-16T22:06:20.421-06:00Will's been pulling your chain awhile npw WD. ...Will's been pulling your chain awhile npw WD.
