The problem with the rightwing these days is the only liberty they are concerned with is the liberty they and their ideology find acceptable. I guess their definition of liberty is limited.

So yes Jerry, compromise is becoming more difficult. The great divide is caused by conservatives moving to the extreme right. Me, I'd say there are very few to none. Depending on your definition of "radical".

I think we need more of these "extreme radical liberals" voicing their opinions, given that most Americans are Liberal, even if they don't know it.Dervish Sandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13671865801885224353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21976234.post-18810725152493360532018-10-14T09:59:22.481-05:002018-10-14T09:59:22.481-05:00Rational Liberal social policy coupled with a rati...Rational Liberal social policy coupled with a rational Conservative fiscal policy is what might MAGA. But of course that would require rational leadership. Something severely lacking in the current political environment.

Extreme radical conservatives and extreme radical liberals are controlling the political dialogue forcing more moderate candidates to move either right or left (depending on where they live) to have even a chance of being elected. We are a fatally divided nation. One in which rational compromise is all but a thing of the past.

Unfortunate, sad, and likely irreversible. Time will tell whether this nation will survive as the democratic republic that our founding fathers left us.Les Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01120280762698472496noreply@blogger.com
